Dr. Kevin LathangueD.M.D.
Dr. Kevin Lathangue graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2004 with a Doctorate of Medical Dentistry (DMD). Since then, he has developed innovative strategies to enhance patient care and team collaboration within Blue Ocean Dental Group. Working closely with experienced professionals such as Mr. Mark O’Neill, a certified CEREC Technician and cosmetic expert, Dr. Lathangue continues to advance restorative and cosmetic dentistry within the practice.
Dr. Lathangue performs various types of minor oral surgery, including wisdom tooth removal and implant placement. He is an avid learner who has completed numerous continuing education courses, including a yearlong implant course taught by Dr. Sascha Jovanovic in Santa Monica, CA, and advanced training through the renowned Kois Center.
When Dr. Lathangue is not practicing dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his three children—Kasey, Travis, and Kaya. He is also a dedicated weight trainer who once held a junior world record as well as three Canadian records and continues to train and compete in bodybuilding competitions.
Dr. Arathi HungundD.M.D.
Dr. Arti attended dental school in India, where she graduated in 2002. She practiced dentistry in India until 2016, when she moved to Canada. She studied dentistry at the University of British Columbia and was awarded a DMD in 2018.
While at UBC Dr. Arti was awarded the American Academy of Implant Dentistry Student Award, and the Roy Memorial Prize in Dentistry. After working in Ontario for a year she moved back to beautiful BC to practice dentistry here. Dr. Arti enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and has a special love for working with children.
Outside work, she loves spending time with her husband and son, traveling, hiking, swimming, and baking.

Mark O’NeillResident CEREC Expert
Mark is our resident CEREC expert with over 30 years’ experience designing and creating beautiful crowns and other restorations. He has extensive experience working with CEREC and is a member of the CEREC mentor group with the Center for Dental Excellence in Arizona. Mark also trains and mentors other dental professionals in the use of CEREC technology. When you come into our office ask Mark to show you his Ceramic Book which shows off some of his most beautiful work.
A resident of Campbell River since 2012, Mark loves our community and is glad to call it home. He spends his off time with his children, playing squash and swimming.
Emma OuelletteResident CEREC Expert
Emma brings over 10 years of experience in the dental field, including 8 years specializing in digital dentistry with a focus on CEREC technology. She is highly skilled in designing and creating custom restorations—such as crowns, veneers and on-lays—using advanced digital workflows to ensure precision, efficiency, and beautiful, natural-looking results. Emma is passionate about integrating technology into dentistry and enjoys mentoring colleagues on the use of CEREC systems.
Emma graduated from the Dental Assisting program at Camosun College in 2015 and continues to advance her expertise through ongoing education. In 2025, she completed the Level 3 course at Dentsply Sirona Canada Academy, where she received advanced training anterior esthetics, digital smile design, and cloud-based workflows using DS Core.
She is known for her attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistently high-quality results, helping to make each patient’s experience seamless and stress-free.
Outside the clinic, Emma enjoys staying active through running and hiking, and loves spending time with her partner, dog, and family. When you visit, feel free to ask her about her work or explore examples of her favorite restorations.
MahmoudHygienist
Mahmoud discovered his passion for dentistry at a young age while working with his brother in his dental lab in Cairo, Egypt, as a dental technician. This early exposure to the field ignited a lifelong interest, leading him to pursue a career in dentistry after graduating from high school. Mahmoud was offered to come to Canada as a sponsored immigrant before completing the last year of his dental studies in Egypt. Shortly after arriving in Canada, he started contributing to his new country as a dental assistant and a community support worker on Salt Spring Island, BC. Three years later, he enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program at Vancouver Island University.
As a proud graduate of Vancouver Island University's Dental Hygiene program, Mahmoud has made the dean’s honor list for the two consecutive years of the dental hygiene program. He is known for his warm, friendly demeanor and commitment to providing client-centered dental hygiene care while addressing the unique individual needs of his clients and ensuring each patient receives the highest quality of care. He takes pride in his gentle yet thorough dental hygiene services that he provides, offering a positive and welcoming atmosphere to all his clients.
When not helping patients achieve healthier smiles, Mahmoud indulges in his creative side, with a passion for visual arts including photography, painting, and drawing. During the summer months, you'll often find him camping in the wilderness, paddleboarding and swimming.
